CNN producer note

KimJacobs, her husband and her three little girls live in Pensacola Beach right across the street from the water. After hearing the news that a lot of oil had washed ashore, the family scoped out the beach for themselves. The girls haven't really understood why they hadn’t been allowed in the water for the past five weeks until they saw the oil-covered beach. 'They didn’t say much, it was just the way they looked,' she said.
